Our Facilities

ReSource Roxbury

ReSource’s C&D processing facility in Roxbury was established in 2010 by a prior owner and acquired by our company in 2012. The facility is located 10 minutes from historic downtown Boston in the Newmarket business district of the Roxbury neighborhood, with quick and easy access to I-90. The facility accepts a wide variety of solid, non-hazardous construction and demolition (C&D) materials from waste handlers, contractors, roofers, landscapers, property managers, clean-out companies and homeowners. We recover components of value and transform waste into reusable commodities.

ReSource Roxbury is the only LEED-certified C&D processing facility in New England. The Recycling Certification Institute provides a credible, ISO-level third-party certification of the facility’s recycling rates that meets the United States Green Building Council MRpc87 criteria.

Products Created & Sold

Our recovered materials can be used to for a wide variety of applications: fuel for electricity generation; medium-density fiberboard (MDF) manufacturing; asphalt paving; new cardboard and drywall; recycled plastic and metal products; and miscellaneous construction materials and soil substitutes. We are proud to manufacture customized products to meet market needs.

Impact on the Region

The facility is an important corporate citizen in the region, as it supports nearly 50 direct jobs, other indirect jobs associated with the haulers who deliver waste to the facility, and additional jobs tied to local goods and services related to the facility.

C&D Processing System

The processing system at the Roxbury facility is designed to process large quantities of mixed C&D debris.

1

Material is Received

The inbound material is stockpiled in an enclosed tipping room.

2

Initial Size Separation

The material is then fed into the process line, which includes a screen for initial size separation.

3

Picking Station

The oversized fraction then passes through a large picking station where employees use a positive-pick method to remove materials, including cardboard, metals, brick/concrete, wood and oversized materials.

4

Magnetic Separation & Size Segregation

This is followed by a series of magnets for recovery of ferrous metal, a grinder and a screen to size-segregate into different fractions.

5

Further Processing

The undersized fraction moves through further processing to recover ferrous metals, size separation and a de-stoner to remove more asphalt, brick and concrete. The recovered wood is also further processed to remove metals and fines, thereby creating a quality fuel wood chip or particle board component.

6

Products are Sold

The end result are product streams – woodchips, ferrous metals, aggregate, corrugated paper, dirt fines, and other recyclables – that meet or exceed quality standards required by the markets to which the products are directed.  The remaining residues (typically less than 35% of inbound materials) are segregated and sent to landfill.

Dumpster Rental Services

ReSource Roxbury provides dumpster rental services to businesses and residents located in Greater Boston needing to dispose of waste from clean-outs and construction projects. Please call us at 877-586-0436 or email us at dumpsters@resource-waste.com to discuss your project.

Inventory & Service Time

We own a full inventory of 15-, 20-, 30- and 40-yard roll-off dumpsters to meet your disposal needs. Our dumpster rental service is available Monday-Friday and Saturday until noon.

Rental Period & Fee

The typical rental length is seven days, but we can work with you on longer rentals if needed. The cost of your rental will depend on the dumpster size, your location, the length of the rental, and the type of material you need to dispose. Please call 877-586-0436 or email dumpsters@resource-waste.com to discuss your project.

Commingled C&D Waste is Allowed

Because our company processes C&D debris and recycles all material that can be reused, you can commingle your waste and we will ensure that all recyclable material is recovered. Waste that is considered hazardous is not allowed in the dumpster, and we will be happy to discuss your personal disposal needs.

Ideal Placement

Our dumpsters have steel wheels that can damage driveways and leave ruts on lawns. For those reasons, we recommend that you place the dumpster on your driveway or parking lot on top of boards that will protect the asphalt surface. If you need to borrow boards from us, just let us know.

Permit Information

ReSource Roxbury is permitted as a Solid Waste Recycling Facility by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. Its permitted capacity is 223,000 tons per year.
